Damon Abraham, PhD has a background grounded in experimental psychology and consulting.

His academic work investigates how people regulate their emotions through cognitive reappraisal, examining the elicitation of emotions and the strategies that modify emotional responses. He has authored peer-reviewed papers, presented at scientific conferences, and communicates research findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Current collaborations explore how artificial intelligence and machine learning can help AI agents better recognize and respond to human emotion.

In a separate line of work that also intersects with OBE research, Damon is curating an open-source database of ~3,000 photographs tagged for emotional valence, historical resonance, and “numinous” qualities. Originally designed to improve target selection in experimental remote-viewing studies, the resource addresses a long-standing issue known as displacement, where viewers describe an alternate (non-target) image. Because both remote viewing and OBEs involve perception apparently untethered from the physical body, understanding what makes a visual stimulus more “attractive” or “informationally rich” could help researchers predict—and experimentally manipulate—the imagery that surfaces during out-of-body episodes. The database therefore provides not just cleaner RV protocols but a controlled stimulus set for future experiments comparing how OBE experiencers versus remote viewers access and describe nonlocal scenes.

Damon’s recent collaboration with lucid-dream artist Dave Green, skeptic-psychologist Christopher French, cognitive scientist Alan Pickering, and futurist-neuroscientist Julia Mossbridge, PhD, probes the intriguing overlap between lucid dreaming, precognition, and out-of-body experience.
