Rodrigo Montenegro, PhD.c
Founder, President
Rodrigo Montenegro, PhD.c is a neuroscientist with specialized knowledge in neuromodulation medicine and sleep medicine. Having graduated from Oxford University Rodrigo is driven by a self-critical, evidence-based mindset and a forward-thinking attitude that combines academic rigor with innovative thinking to pioneer new methodologies for the scientific study of Consciousness through Out-of-Body Experiences (OBEs).
Rodrigo has worked in Consciousness research and non-ordinary states with the Coma Science Group within the Centre du Cerveau², a specialized unit that studies Near-Death Experiences and the Sensation and Perception Research Group (SPRG), a research group that studies self-induced cognitive trance and clinical hypnosis applications.
An internationally sought-after speaker at premier consciousness forums, Rodrigo was a featured voice in acclaimed documentaries including a CERN documentary alongside Nobel Prize winner Roger Penrose, bringing cutting-edge science on non-ordinary states to global audiences.
Rodrigo's a lifelong researcher interested in pairing first-person phenomenology with laboratory-grade instrumentation to transform OBEs from a largely misunderstood state into a reproducible window on the potential of human consciousness. Rodrigo works on OBEs unites 128-/256-channel EEG mapping of different OBE onset states, neurophysiological correlates of self-induced OBEs, phenomenology of targeted temporo-parietal brain stimulation and controlled DMT protocols within rigorous protocols and neurophenomenological framework to unravel—and reliably induce—Out-of-Body Experiences as a doorway to better understand consciousness.
Rodrigo is currently pursuing OBE research looking at differences between OBE and sleep states, as well as pursuing fMRI research on the subject.
