tES-EEG systems
SC-LAB uses the Neuroelectrics Starstim platform as an integrated tES–EEG system, enabling simultaneous multi-channel brain stimulation and real-time electrophysiological monitoring within a single setup. The system supports flexible tDCS/tACS/tRNS and custom waveform protocols, multi-electrode montages (including HD and 4×1 configurations), and multi-step designs (pre-, during-, and post-stimulation EEG) to test how targeted neuromodulation shapes brain-state dynamics relevant to OBE research. By combining stimulation with concurrent EEG, Starstim allows state-dependent and closed-loop paradigms, while its model-driven montage optimisation and electric-field visualisation help maximise anatomical specificity and interpretability—making it a powerful tool for causal, reproducible consciousness research.
